IT Conference Q8? Anyone?
I wonder how come we don’t have conferences similar to DefCon and Black Hat in Kuwait? I don’t see/hear/read of any IT conferences being organized and attended by Kuwait’s ISPs and companies such as Microsoft, RSA, VeriSign, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Interior’s Cyber-crime division; just to name a few that actually exist in Kuwait. Heck, I’m sure many of them would willingly sponsor this!
That would actually be a great way to share knowledge and information!
Seriously, we NEED such a gathering of brains under one roof in order to REALLY address the issues that we’re facing here.
Incidentally, many ‘geeks’ and ‘hackers’ here would actually attend such a conference, the turn out would be massive. If only anyone was interested in jump-starting such a thing. 
you need to contact Enayat, maybe you both could have like a small event and get people who like such stuff! walla!
I think there is like an Information system association maybe someone should pitch then the idea …

Laialy: Yes they do exist actually, thing is trying to get the major players involved. My main focus is on IT security, which is a moot point with so many in Kuwait. Long time no see.

How about a 2600 local conference? Would you be interested in something like that?

if you did it would end up becoming something like ma3rath il computer. Most of the people in the field are script kiddies and the rest can afford to make it to defcon …..
Events like Defcon and Blackhat belong only in Vegas. Also Defcon and other events like Toorcon and Shmoocon are non sponsored at all and totally independent.
Also I’ve tried having 2600 meetings in Kuwait, people wont show up. Same as the blogger meetings. Its a hit and miss. Our community isnt made for these meetings.
nibaq: thing is im not asking for a meeting. im asking for a full-fledged conference involving the major players here. u know..speakers, presentations, workshops and etc.
Kuwait doesn’t hold one, well..normal conferences but not IT.

Have you been to any of the IT conferences in Kuwait?? Its a bunch of people looking at recycled PowerPoint presentations waiting for the buffet to open.
