What Am I To You?

These days the fine line between computer engineers and electrical engineers has gone somewhat blurry at work. Chronic power failures and the ultimate stupidity of some construction workers damaging the main power line has caused us a major setback the past week or so.

I never thought I’d learn how to operate and maintain a diesel generator, gauge the external fuel tanks using the old fashioned stick & dye method, calculating amperage vs voltage vs temperature in order to calculate our electrical consumption. All that just to make sure our main server room stays up and running 24/7.

I could even work as a consultant with Tarsheed now I know what appliance consumes how much power and needs how much wattage.

I’m a geek for God’s sakes not an electrician! These two in below pictures reflect how physical my job has become. This is seriously getting to me, staying @work till midnight, and for the past week I haven’t gone home earlier than 7pm (except yesterday).

My tailbone is bruised, my left eye has gone out of whack..infection or irritated from all that dirt, oil sludge and diesel, my WHOLE wardrobe more or less is in the wash, they’ve yet to get me the coveralls I requested so I can look like the rest of the Smurfs here.

This summer is the shits. Note: Chikapappi provided an excellent post about this here

These are my standard equipment, minus the laptop.
