An Eye for an Eye

We took Mouse to the vet again last night, so they can remove the stitches from his eyelid. In case y’all have a short memory, we took Mouse about 2 weeks ago to have ‘plastic surgery’ done for his right eye. He had a condition in which his lower eyelid curled up inside the eye. So the vet has to make a slit, tighten the muscle (make it shorter) and have the eyelid back to normal.

The past two weeks was sort of hilarious yet sad. The poor cat kept licking the inside of his protective cone (placed so he can’t scratch his eye) as if he’s licking his own body. Also he looked like a mini heat-seeking missile…in reverse. Kept bonking his head on objects. Fell over whenever his cone catches on something. Yet strangely, he’s been extra-affectionate and does NOT leave our sides. He especially follows my wife around wherever she goes in the house and tries to get into her lap once she sits down.

Hey…he may be a dumb cat. But he sure keeps us entertained, the house is kind of funny without him around though. The vet will remove the stitches today, and I will be picking him up (for the last time I hope) in about an hour or so! :)

Warning: If you make repeat visits to the vet, make sure you keep your cat in the carrier. I thought of doing him a favor & carry him there, bad idea. Got enough scratches on my neck & shoulders to look like a half-breed zebra!

  1. I love cats, very much. That is so cute! Salamat! Hahah, that cone thing, I only saw it on TV but it does look like it would be funny to have that. :)

  2. :) well you know what I think of cats… maskeen o that’s nice of you to take of him that much

    salamat mousey

  4. The Qatteri Cat who lives with my husband and me adores us, but we can never forget for a heartbeat that he was born wild, and that those wild instincts are not too far below the surface. Even after three years, he will occasionally panic, and bite or scratch me, seriously, not playfully. Those cages are a Godsend! And so is time out! Five minutes, and he has totally forgotten. Amazing.

We are so glad Mouse is safely home with you, and so loving and affectionate!

  5. N.: May be fun but quite annoying when the cat decides he wants to turn in my lap and bonks my face or chin with it hehe.

chika: if you treat an animal well, it may take you to heaven. :P

laialy: did your dad budge yet? or no cat?

Intlxpatr: I read somewhere that no matter how tame a cat may be, they will always have a streak of wildness in them. Thats why I hear the ‘bonk’ each morning when he goes bird ‘hunting’ on the opposite side of the window. Then the frustrated meows.
